One major part of the raven guard is the fact that they are not front line marines. They are saboteurs and guerrilla fighters. So that could be something to take into account for the part where they are essentially on the run from the larger chaos force. Grey Knights might be a bit much, they are cool and all but unless you're dealing with a full fledged daemon prince that might be too much

I shall look within the tome penned by the immortal Mat Ward to discern the logistics. Though you're probably right, terminators may be overkill. You may wish to look more into something like "The Emperor's Gift" by Aaron Dembski-Bowden. Thats what Im using as a reference. The first few chapters of the book are about quelling a minor bit of Chaos corruption which is what it seems like what we are going for

Theyll also compliment the Omega Marines most likely brash attitude since they are Ultramarine descendants. Also GKs are dispatched to chaos uprisings because they are needed to wipe the minds of Astartes and kill all non-Inquisition humans who witnessed the corruption of chaos. Its kind of their thing

Oh yeah and what am I allowed to include with the RGs? I was thinking of a Captain, a Chaplain, and then an undertermined amount of Assaults and Tacticals

If your ok with it I'd like the Omega company which will mostly be codex company with some extra support like maybe a scout squad, as for the RG sure why not include a company that's mostly standard for them maybe have them meet Omega like how the white scars and RG meet during the Hunt for Voldorus ? Also lets have some guard characters as well to show the regular troops do compared to the Angels of Death I also think at some point an aerial battle and air assault behind enemy lines be cool as well For Omega company first sent I was thinking having the captain be from this world which explains why he is so eager to go, and having Omega be a bit arrogant in the beginning

I dont want the RG to be major players since we have Omega doing their thing and too many RG would detract from them. Theyre just kind of there to be helpful with Assault Marine stuff.

True enough how about a Vertern Sergent and 2 squads of RG then for scouting and raiding ? Also what Guard regiments should we use?

I was thinking more along the lines of a Captain, a Chaplain, a Vanguard Squad, 2 Assault squads and 2 Tactical Squads. I planned on having the Veteran Sergeant having witty banter with the Captain for comic relief haha. And I only know of the Cadians for guardsmen so I wont vote on that haha

Guard is pretty much in the air. A planetary invasion, even if it doesn't expect a lot of resistance, is realistically looking at upwards of 3 or 4 million soldiers. So Guard is more or less whatever people want to do.
On top of that, if people want to do one off stories that's fine. There's no need to keep continuous characters throughout the whole thing.

True there are going to be millions of guardsmen and over time perhaps additional Astartes as well. We should have a basic timeline but one off stories and such are a good idea as well

Working on thinking through that timeline. It'll be pretty vague and loose until more details are developed.

Well just to say, Im doing the RG Veteran Sergeant's squad, the Chaplain, and Captain (if theyre okay to have). For events Im having the Sergeant and squad rookie live til the final battle. If the Loyalists win those 2 will survive. If they lose, theyll die in the final battle. No idea what happens to the Captain and Chaplain. Is that cool?

Most certainly. I like the idea, and Raven Guard could be pretty cool. Which company are they going to be drawn from?
I'll be looking at doing a Traitor Sorcerer and his Chosen, a squad of mortals who're basically the equivalent of Storm Troopers, at least a couple rank and file cultists and a bunch of one offs, like civilians caught in the crossfire or the traitor's version of a medic or priest. No idea as to their fates, though it is likely that the Astartes will die one at a time, and one of the lowly cultists will outlive most of the rest of the Chaos cast.
