So this will be for the idea of doing one big event/battle/war from the viewpoints of radically different characters. Some that were floated were as follows An Astartes A heretic A medic behind enemy lines A commander A Grunt trooper etc

They did something like that in "The Emperor's Gift" and it was actually a really cool section. Id say it should be a bit more diverse. Perhaps include a tank commander or really anyone in a tank? Even a single Astartes can differ in opinion of a battle. You could focus on a squad of Astartes and their viewpoints.

I think a medic working on soldiers within friendly lines would make more sense but thats my 2 cents.
I'd love to help with this from a guardsmans perspective or pilots.

How about imperial guard and a company of Astartes are sent to a world in rebellion, when they crush the rebels they learn the leaders were hybrids consoled by gene stealers. Soon after the Tyranids invade and it turns into a massive battle. Maybe have viewpoints from the captain and a sergeant from the marines, a guard tank commander, a commissar And admiral of the Imperial Navy battle group in orbit Maybe a thunderbolt pilot and some PDF troopers as well?

That could work, though it'd be hard to have a viewpoint from the enemy if it's Tyranids (Which isn't necessarily a bad thing). To make it work, you'd need a few things. You'd need a collaborated timeline of events, worked out in decent detail to prevent contradictions. You'd need a stable of characters, though not necessarily 1 author per character. And you need a set of rules for depicting characters (How powerful is an individual Astartes? How formidable is a Warrior or Lictor?)

Im by no means an expert on 'nids, but arent they governed by a hive mind so wouldnt all of the view points (unless it was one of those unique ones) just be the hive mind? It would work better with Orks or Chaos and daemons because their unique viewpoints would differ. Also I personally think that one author per character would work better because then the character's reactions fit their personality.

Sorry, I got that backwards. Was trying to say that one author could have several characters. But you don't need an enemy point of view to have an effective story, though it helps. It really helps if you can portray them in a way that is sympathetic to the audience despite them doing horrific things.

I figured that was what you meant but glad you clarified. And I get that too but Im sure 'nids are too relatable. I dont think most humans are angry alien planet destroyers lol. I think if we made teams to write for a certain squads it would be a very nice thing. Plus it would cut down on confusion. I volunteer for either normal or chaos Astartes.

During the rebellion stages we could have a pov from a rebel, who only discovers who his true masters are right before the Astartes show up lol Main reason I'd like nids is we can start with the 'stealer uprising then switch to total war when the nids show up But that's just me lol I'd like to write either Astartes or Imperial guard infantry

Well what if we went somewhat like the DoW 2 story? What if it was a Chaos uprising and then the 'nids happened the planet? We could do something with the Chaos and Loyalist forces stoppiny fighting and joining together to fight the 'nids. Also it seems like most people are agreed on Astartes so should we maybe choose the chapter(s) that are there?

That would work out good Ik ultramarines tend to get a lot of hype but how about we use a successor chapter that is similar but is a bit more flexible. Say make it fleet based and they specialize more in Xenos killing. Then the planet Chaos invades is one of the world the Astartes recruits from. Make it a bit more personal for the marines. Also makes it that much harder to work with the chaos troops against the nids

Eh, Chaos and Imperial wouldn't declare a ceasefire in the face of a Nid invasion, it'd turn into a three way free for all. As for Astartes Chapters, I think it'd be best to homebrew one up. I'd like to shy away from any mainstream stuff, though I do use Eagle Warriors in my writing. Any suggestions?
I'd also like to write from the Chaos perspective.

Ok how about imperials wipe out the chaos troops then the nids show up and it gets really bloody lol And yeah personally I'd like to make up a new chapter of marines Plus we might as well use guard forces as well right

Yeah, Guard and loyalist Astartes on one side, Chaos and their attendant cultists/heretics on another and Nids crashing the party part way through. I'd honestly like to see the three way fight continue through the whole thing, keeps the tension ratcheted up not knowing if a third party is going to show up in your fight and make a mess of things.
As for the Space Marines, Ultramarines successors sounds good. Though maybe anybody wanting to write Marines could choose their own chapters? Make it a Crusade force? More options is always better.

Three way battle be awesome maybe have it where the imperials mostly wipe out the cultists except for some chaos marines who evade then after the nids arrive they keep wrecking imperial plans ? And sure in later chapters have additional guard and Astartes arrive, maybe have more chaos arrive later to really make it a bloodbath
